To My Son and Daughter

1.Make your bed every day, even if it’s right before you get in it.

2. Don’t wear holey underwear…in case you’re in an accident and they cut your clothes off.

3. Travel light through life. Keep only what you need.

4. It’s okay to cry when you’re hurt. It’s also okay to smash (some) things; but, wash your face, clean your mess, and get up off the floor when you’re done. You don’t belong down there.

5. If you’re going to curse, be clever. If you’re going to curse in public, know your audience.

6. Seek out the people and places that resonate with your soul.

7. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

8. 5-second rule. It’s just dirt. There are worse things in a fast food cheeseburger.

9. Happiness is not a permanent state. Wholeness is. Don’t confuse these.

10. If you’re staying more than one night, unpack your bag.

11. Never walk through an alley alone.

12. Be less sugar, more spice, and only as nice as you’re able to without compromising yourself.

13. Can’t is a cop-out.

14. Hold your heroes to a high standard. Be your own hero.

15. If you can’t smile with your eyes, don’t smile. Insincerity is nothing to aspire to.

16. Never lie to yourself.

21. Wish on stars and dandelions, then get to work to make them happen.

25. Say Please, Thank You, and Pardon Me, whenever the situation warrants it.

26. Reserve “I’m sorry” for when you truly are.

27. Naps are for grown-ups, too.

28. Question everything, except your own intuition.

30. You are amazing! Don’t let anyone ever make you feel you are not. If someone does….walk away. You deserve better.

Upper Class Vs Middle Class Mannerisms

Upperclass Dude.

He bought a car.

He wants to go on a road trip.

He books the accommodation online, charges his camera and the additional battery pack, packs the bags and goes.

Middleclass Dude.

He too bought the same car as his upperclass friend.

He also thinks of going on a road trip.

He takes a paper and calculates the cost for the trip. He writes down accommodation cost, cost of fuel consumed for the to and fro trip, toll-gate fees, food expenses on the way and other miscellaneous expenses. He checks if the expenses are manageable.

He wonders if he would have sufficient balance in his salary after the Car Loan, House Loan, Gold Loan EMIs are deducted.

He checks the bus rates online and turns out that bus is cheaper. He books the bus this time.

The lesson here is

When you are taking these small insignificant expenses seriously and thinking if you would be able to afford the trip or not, it means that you are in a danger zone.

There is one saying — Buy car only if can afford two of them. Becuase when you spend all that you have on a car, you won’t be able to spend should you get into accident, your parent has a serious health issue, a crisis like covid, inflation, recession or jobs getting outdated.

Financial liquidity and savings are thus must for a comfortable life. Living from paycheck to paycheck is one of the lethal risks to take.

silence is Golden, Silence is Black

Because nothing hurts more than feeling completely unimportant, invalidated.

When you don't give any response to someone, you are basically saying “I don't care if you are alive or dead”… “if you are sad or happy”… “if you are thriving or desparate”.

By not wishing someone anything, not even harm, can hurt more than anything. Particularly, if someone upset you in the expectation they would get a response out of you, even if your response was one of anger.

The ultimate revenge is often, eternal silence.

Eternal indifference

As if it Doesn't Matter but It Does

He used to date a very rich girl. He dated her because of that very reason.

1. She bought him gifts every day, expensive shirts and once even a watch.
2. She prepared him expensive meals.
3. She drove him in her mother’s expensive sports car.
4. He literally got everything that money can buy.

He felt happy and blessed in the beginning but later I realized how he felt very little of what she feels about him. The relationship was made of things only.

He started to feel guilty whenever they kissed, he felt no spark. When he talked about her to his family h realized there was nothing really that made him love her.

He realized, he was dating this girl out of guilt. She was a nice person, but she was not the person he loved. Everything she said to him since day one sounded stupid, all he felt was maybe to be a brother to her and teach her a few things about love/life.

Later he decided to leave her out of honesty. He found someone that taught him that these things matter:

1. Long walks
2. Laughing
3. Holding hands
4. Sharing a plate of food
5. Talking for long hours
