She is Just A Girl and she is On Fire

I was laying in bed last night, already snoring away, thinking about my 25th year and how fast it has flown by. As I add more years, the days move along quicker and quicker. Why is that? We don't necessarily get busier. We don't shorten the weeks and turn forward our clocks each day. My guess is we don't stop to enjoy the moment we're in enough, so life speeds on by and another year we grow older. Truth be told, 25 has been a great year for me. Harms and bad things happen but as I  write this; non of those is ringing loud in my memory. 25 has been beautiful for reasons I've held onto in the quiet of my mind.

So here I am today living the last days of 25 feeling beautiful inside and out. Above all I am so grateful to the Almighty God ,Family and the gift of wonderful friends. They make life so meaningful and worthwhile.

I am turning 26 next Tuesday..

Here is a list of 26 life lessons I have learned thus far at the age of 25.  I pass this list on to you with the simple hope that it makes you think.  Sometimes thinking about your life and sorting out what you have learned is just as important as tackling a new venture.
  1. Being an adult can be fun when you are acting like a child.
  2. Love has nothing to do with looks, but everything to do with time, trust, and interest.
  3. Laughing, crying, joy and anger… All are a vital.  All make us human.
  4. The greatest truths in life are uncovered with simple, steady awareness.
  5. Greed will bury even the lucky eventually.
  6. Bad things do happen to good people.
  7. Paving your own road is intelligent only if nobody has gone exactly where you are going.
  8. Uncertainty is caused by a lack of knowledge.  Hesitation is the product of fear.
  9. Time heals all wounds… regardless of how you feel right now.
  10. Most of the time what you are looking for is right in front of you.
  11. Your health is your life.
  12. Chance is a gift, so act on chance when given the opportunity.
  13. Kindness and hard work will take you further than intelligence.
  14. People deserve a second chance, but not a third.
  15. Marry your best friend.
  16. Take lots of pictures.  Someday you’ll be really glad you did.
  17. Money makes life easier only when the money is yours free and clear.
  18. Carelessness is the root of failure
  19. Your actions now create memories you will reminisce and talk about in your elder years.
  20. Stepping outside of your comfort zone will put things into perspective from an angle you can’t grasp now.
  21. Motivation comes in short bursts.  Act while it’s hot.
  22. Purposely ignoring the obvious is like walking backwards toward the enemy.
  23. Taking ownership of failure builds the foundation for success.
  24. First impressions are completely worthless 50% of the time.
  25. Personal glory lasts forever.
  26. If you never act, you will never know for sure.
There are very few times I use this blog as a personal sounding board.

When the Skin Detests H20

'Psycho' actress Janet Leigh is shown screaming in the famous shower scene of Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller.
Surviving a cold shower in this chilly week .Oops I have actually fallen a victim to this. Details watch out.

Oh did I mention that the shower is 5 minutes long?  Yep.  5 minutes are just enough for me in the bathroom.

Let me tell you how I get through those 5 minutes now that I'm becoming a bit of a cold shower therapy professional lol , but these 3 past days have tested my patience on the combo of this chilly weather and the cold shower

  1.  I usually get up around 5 15am.
  2. I set the timer for 6 minutes (Why 6 minutes?  Well because it usually takes about a minute to psych myself up to get in the tab.
  3.  I get in,and start thinking about it
  4. Then.  I scream.
  5. (*Note - for these 3 days I just stood there, like an idiot in the cold water, and then I got smart.  Time went by much faster if I were doing something, so I started washing my hands and feet in cold water)
  6.   Once my hands and feet are washed, which usually takes a good 2 minutes, then...I take a deep breath, as deep as I can; given I am having trouble catching my breath, and I turn around.
  7.   I move to my chest.  Oh My GOD! Once the chest is well saturated with the cold water. It's almost painful it's so cold.
  8.   Then I rinse and cleanse my face. Oh yes.  I do.
  9. I take care of the business of the rest of the body, and then I start to pray a little bit.  Almost exactly the same way every day.  Almost pleading, "Please God, be over...be over...is it over?  Please.  God.  Be over."  And then..suddenly the timer goes off.
I am a cold shower friek but it had never been this hard like the past 3 days of my life.   BUT...I have my cold shower for 5 minutes every single day...for the past 25 years.

This last 3 days have tested my Ninja powers, but starting today I am back on my cold shower life time therapy.

PS: I don't wanna do lukewarm showers I cherish the cold one more.
